Stanton Airfield

Stanton Airfield is a beautiful and historic little grass-strip airport. It is the home of Stanton Sport Aviation and the Minnesota Soaring Club, the largest Soaring Club in the upper Midwest. SECTIONAL. Stanton Airfield is a privately-owned/publicly-open airport located in South East Minnesota. Pilots from all over the Midwest come to Stanton for the nostalgic feel, open skies, and homey atmosphere. With an old-fashioned bottled pop machine, ice cream treats, and cozy picnic area, it makes a great destination for fly-in and drive-in patrons. We cater to the recreational flying community be it homebuilts, classics, LSAs, or gliders. Many classic tailwheel aircraft are based here, and we welcome all classic and antique aircraft to visit. Primary flight training is a core business just like in the early days. Rides of various types are also available.

Stanton Airfield is the leading flight school in the area for Sport Pilot training. With four qualified Sport Pilot Instructors, a new Flight Design CTLS Light Sport Aircraft, and a NEW CubCrafters Sport Cub, students will be well on their way to receiving their Sport Pilot rating. Instruction is available every day of the week. We trained the first Sport Pilot in Minnesota, Chris Melton of Eagan, from first flight to a full license in less than 3 months! Stanton is also the Primary dealer for the Flight Design in the area and an authorized training center for the Sport Cub.

Stanton Airfield is a shareholder owned Minnesota corporation managed by a Board of Directors. We receive no federal, state, or local financial support as most airports receive. Our mission/goal to provide a place for recreational aviation.

GOALS OF THE CORPORATION

Stanton Airfield is privately owned, open to the public, with financial support earned from operations. Taxes are paid on real estate at agricultural and commercial rates. The goals include: to maintain sports aviation facility; to provide appropriate flight training, aircraft maintenance, and hangar facilities; to comply with local, state and federal regulations in aviation and financial matters; to maintain buildings and grounds and to make investments for improvement; to maintain good relations with local community; to remain open to the public without compromising other goals; to emphasize safety; and to plan for growth and reinvestment of funds to meet the stated goals.
